Our goal when travelling up backroad F-209 was to get to Maelifell Mountain. Unfortunately, when we got to the Bláfjallafoss River Crossing, we chickened out. The other larger vehicles crossing the river from the opposite direction suggested that we would not make it, so we turned around. The journey was certainly worth it, though. The scenery along F-209 was terrific. Our lodging for these two days was at a small house on a sheep farm near the ring road—the view from our porch was beautiful here.
