We missed our flight from Maui to Kauai, which meant missing our booked open-door helicopter flight over the Nāpali Coast. We were fortunate to capture a cancelled flight on the next day. The day we were supposed to take the helicopter, it rained heavily. The day we jumped on the helicopter was sunny, and all the waterfalls flowed at total capacity from the previous downpour. Near the end of the flight, the pilot took the chopper right into the center of the dormant Kauai volcano. He then spun the helicopter around, and we were in awe of all the waterfalls flowing down the nearly vertical three-quarter-circle wall of the caldera. It was truly a spectacular sight to witness.
